This week’s reflection
What do you want to learn and understand about all of the different kinds of people in the world?
Share your thoughts below — and read what others are saying.
This category has to do with teaching children to develop an interest in the history of their own and other’s origins. Its subject will involve science and history and should be used to amplify both curiosity and respect when it comes to learning about how they and others can live together on the world.
I sent the first question on August 15, 2023 and asked them to reflect on this question: “If you could go to any place on the Earth and learn about another race, where would you want to go?” 🌍 These were some of the replies:
Luwazo said that he would prefer to go to London and learn about their race because they are complicated people.🇬🇧
Nangobi she said that she would like to go to the US and learn about their race and see the differences.🇺🇸
Nakato replied that she would like to go to India and learn about their race to see why their people behave badly towards us in Uganda.😪
Isa said race is something so bad but it seems to be changing these days. But some countries don’t like Black people though we are brothers and sisters as it’s written in the Holy books. He would prefer to travel all around the world to learn and then teach people how to overcome racism.❤️
The kids at the Vine of Hope welcoming a visitor from far away:
The second time they were sent a question to reflect on in this category was on September 12, 2023. They were asked to imagine getting a visit from a group that had people from many different races and colors. How would they introduce themselves and how would they want those people to say hello back? These are some of their answers:
From Isa, director at the Vine Of Hope:
Luwazo said that he would say, “You’re most welcome visitors!” and then he’d run inside to bring seats. Then he says, “You’re most welcome. My name is Luwazo Haruna. Who have you come to visit so that I can call him or her for you?”🙏
Nangobi Mariam said that she would humbly welcome them with a smile and say, “You’re welcome. Come!” She’d go bring seats for the visitors and then she would call me to come.❤️
Nakibuka–For her, she is so happy 😊 when visitors come to our home. She would say, “Hello, visitors. You’re most welcome to our home. Please wait for me here and I will get you a place to sit.” After she greets them, she says, “My name is Nakibuka Mariam.” And then the visitors introduce themselves. They get some jaz as they wait for an older person at home to come down.😇
One of the wonderful workers cooking for the kids at the Vine of Hope:
And these were the answers from Moses and Caroline Kaharwa’s kids❤️:
JOSHUA MYLES :
He said, according to him, he would say, “You are most welcome, our beloved visitors! Good morning. My name is Joshua Myles Kaharwa. I am 13 years old and I am in Primary 5. Please feel free to ask for any help in whatever way possible!! Thanks.”🙏
Then he would expect the visitors to introduce themselves and tell him the purpose of their visit and when to leave—as their long stay may be an inconvenience to the family members.🙂
JORDAN MAX: He said he would feel scared, first of all, for so very many people to come and visit our home. He would welcome them, greet them and say, “Good morning, our visitors!” If Daddy is present he would be there to smile for them and Jordan would run into the house and start watching them all from the window to see what would happen next with the visitors. He would wish that the visitors would greet him and tell him what reason they have to visit out home.❣️
ESTHER ROBINSON:
She said she would say, “You are welcome visitors! My name is Esther Robinson. I am in Top Class and it’s a pleasure to see you. Who do you want to see here?” She said she would wish the visitors to introduce themselves to her so that she can know them, too.💚
Esther and Jordan Kaharwa:
In November, 2023, the third time a question was to be sent to the kids about the subject of the races, I decided that a good approach to it would be to begin with the kids imagining the colors of the rainbow and talking about what they liked about each color. 🌈
So as we move forward and the subject rolls around, I’m going to have them imagine a star whose light will shine with a different color each time.⭐️
Under the light of that changing star we’ll talk about the positive things that come up about people of different colors—including them.
The Rainbow:
So with this approach in mind and after reflecting and praying on it, the kids had these answers. First from the Victorious School:
1. Vincent: I like red because it’s really bright and makes me feel strong.❤️
2. Anitah: I like orange because it is cool, too, and it’s because it’s warm and makes me happy.🍑
3. Anthony: l like yellow because it is like sunshine and makes me feel cheerful.🌻
4. Peace: l like green, because it’s my favorite and because it reminds me of nature in our environment and makes me calm.🍃
5. Albert: I like blue because it’s nice and because it’s the color of the sky and makes me feel peaceful.🦋
6. Gift: I like dark blue because it’s like a night sky and makes me curious.🧿
7. Ashiram: l like purple because it’s magical and makes me feel like a prince!🔮
Rainbow Stars:
And the kids at the Vine Of Hope answered the same question:
Nangobi Mariam likes the yellow colour cause it represents the sunshine that makes her day shine bright 🌞.
Nabitaka likes red cause it represents the colour of the blood that flows into her sisters and brothers veins ❤️.
Nambi likes orange cause it’s the warmest color in the world. 🧡
Mulondo likes green cause it’s so cheerful 😊 and it represents the nature environment of the world. 🌿
Luwazo likes blue most cause it’s one of the warmest and coolest colours that represents the water bodies on earth 🌎.
Nkugwa likes dark blue cause it makes him feel peaceful, secure and orderly. 🧿
Nakato said that it’s purple that she likes the most cause we lovers of purple are known to be good judges of character and visionary with a great need to participate in humanitarian issues. She even concluded saying that “I love purple!!💜”
The kids at the Victorious School at the Mushunga Community Project taking a break for lunch at the beginning of 2024:
On January 31, 2024, using the idea of different colors of stars representing the different colors of people in the world, the kids were asked to reflect in the light of the red star about the Native American people who have lived throughout the Americas for thousands of years.❤️
In this light, they were asked to reflect on one of the great values of these people—which is their deep, spiritual connection to nature. So the question was: What things do you see in nature around you that you feel connected to, love and would want to protect like the Native American people do? 🌿
The kids at the Victorious School responded:
1. Annitah: In nature I see pretty flowers with bright colors and l would love to project them. 🌸
2. Vincent: In nature l see cute butterflies flying in the sky.🦋
3. Gift: In nature l see soft grass that tickles my feet.🌱

9. Elisha: l see silly squirrels playing in the trees.🐿️
10. Caroline: l see buzzy bees buzzing around flowers.🐝
11. Albert: l see colorful fish swimming in the water.🐠
12. Ameria: l see warm sunshine making us feel happy.😊
13. Peter: l see fuzzy caterpillars crawling on leaves.🐛
14. Angella: I see playing puppies wagging their tails.🐶
15. Ajuna: I see sticky sand at the beach for digging.🐡
16. Godwin: l see quacking ducks swimming in the pond.🐧

Being inventive with fun at Mushunga:
On Sept. 4, 2024, we were working with the Angels of the Races and the pale blue star shone. In the light of that star, the White people of Europe and the Americas came into view.. and these people have a special talent in terms of their inventiveness and ingenuity. So, this being a program centered on value identification, the kids were asked to reflect on what inventiveness is—because everything that they see that is man-made at one point was once just an idea inside of a person’s head. The question then becomes: “What is one of your favorite everyday objects to use that was once just an idea someone had?”😇❤️😇
Everything you see was once an idea:

Persian tile work reflects their ability to see the many different sides of things:
On Monday, November 12, 2024, working with the Angels of the Races, we asked the kids to imagine that some groups of people come to view under the light of several colors of stars instead of just one. And when the red, yellow and violet stars all shine together, we see the Persian people—like the wonderful poet Rumi whose poem we shared several weeks ago.
Like him, these people can possess a talent for looking at one thing in many different ways. So we asked them: Do you have a favorite subject that you like to think about in several different ways?❤️😇❤️
The kids at Mushunga looking at things in many different ways:
At Mushunga, these are the favorite things that kids like to look at in different ways:
*Godwin K.*

Seen a thing in different ways:
Here’s how the kids at Savannah Rose have different ways of looking at one subject:
1. Francis: “Stories. I imagine them as books, dreams, or even songs people sing.”📚
2. Jeremiah: “Bridges. They can connect places, bring people together, or just be fun to cross.”🌁
3. Victor: “Fire. It can keep us warm, cook food, or be a candle’s light in the dark.”🔥
4. Salima: “The moon. Sometimes it’s a silver coin, sometimes a ball, and sometimes a friend watching over us.”🌜
5. Mark: “The wind. It can blow softly, make trees dance, or even whisper secrets.”🌊
6. Desilanta: “I like rivers. I see them as roads, mirrors for the sky, or places where fish live.”💦
7. Shalom: “Clothes we wear. They can be warm, colorful, or tell a story about who you are.”👚
8. Erizeth: “Our footsteps. They can show where someone has been, lead you somewhere, or make music on a path.”🐾
9. Rihanna: “The books. They can be teachers, friends, or even doors to other worlds.”📘
10. Kyatwike: “Sun. It feels like a clock, a blanket of light, or a painter coloring the world.”☀️
11. Christopher: “I think about shadows. They can look like shapes, be a place to hide, or show how tall you are.”👤
12. Benjamin: “I love clouds. They can be animals, mountains, or just fluffy pillows in the sky.”⛅️
13. Flowrence: “I like the rain. It can be music, a gift for plants, or a way to clean the earth.”🌧️
East India and what it is to be a philosophical person:
On February 10, 2025, working with the Angels of the Races—we asked the kids to imagine a race that came to light beneath the red, yellow, blue and violet stars. These people inhabit the lands of Southwestern Asia and so– East India. This is the land of Gandhi.
These people have a special talent in that they can be very intelligent and philosophical. Philosophical people are able to integrate faith and reason—-because in life there are three great pillars in human experience: faith; reason; and then philosophy—which is the integration of faith and reason in experience.
So we asked the kids to reflect on this and then share a thought that came from their own personal philosophy—just as they are as kids. ❤️😇❤️
